A Beer Called Eddie

Help everything's spinning! Hic. Must be that fish pie I had just before I started on the first bottle of Eddie's Best Bitter. Or was it the Pale Ale I had first? Or the Amber Ale? Can't seem to remember, 's all a bit fuzzy right now. Hic. I love you all, you're my best mates.

Steady! Nearly spilled the bottle there. Now. Where was I. Ah yes I've been sampling this new local brew from the shop and it's got a picture of me on it and everything. Burp! oops pardon. It's that pie again.

Focus fish, focus. Something about beer. Eddie's Beer. Eddie! That's me! My beer! Brewed just down the road at Opa Hay's Brewery in Aldeby. And you can buy it from Waveney River Centre from next week. Just in time for Easter. Hic. Sorry.

I'd better lie down I think.

Playtime for a Fish

Wheeeee! I'm sliding down the slide on my scaley bottom! And now I'm swinging, hanging on only by my fins! Higher! Faster! Wheeeeeeeeee! And look at me slithering down my new fireman's pole! Wheeeeeeee bump!

I am liking this. It's a new playground, just for me - but I might be persuaded to share it with the more well-behaved youngsters who come to stay this season. But only if they promise to play nicely and not leave bottles and wrappers everywhere.

Wow! A climbing wall thingy, not ideal for a fish but I guess those of the hands and feet persuasion will be able to work it ok. And look! A telescopey thing, and I can see over to where I would be standing if I wasn't looking through this end instead.

And if I swing it across to the left I can see Supermole Saunders digging his way across the campsite. A new cable for the campers I hear, there will be 19 tent pitches with electricity this year! Not really camping at all is it what with your fridge, laptop and plasma TV; they'll be wanting hot showers next. And I still say it will be a miracle if the grass grows in time for Whitsun. But with Jasper's harrows and a bit of luck then just maybe...

I've Found My Hotspot

I am an excited fish!

At last I can access the interweb from my sentry post rather than having to sneak into the office leaving scaly fin prints all over Maureen's floor.

Yes, there is finally a real, get-it-everywhere, WiFi network at Waveney River Centre. According to the manufacturer's destructions, you can now get wireless broadband in your lodge, caravan, tent or boat in glorious 16:9 widescreen format, unless I am reading the manual upside down.

You can apparently get a ticket from £6 a day to £20 a week, depending on the length of your stay. And special 'season' deals are available too for all you long-suffering WRC 'residents'. You can get your ticket from Reception, the Mariners Stores, or the Waveney Inn.

So - no more rushing home from the boat of a Sunday evening just to read your emails or get on to Facebook. Now you can drink late into the evening with your friends by the river, occasionally nipping inside to update your status on the pretext of fetching some more beers from the fridge.

Time Flies By When You're A Statue Of A Pike

Time flies by when you're a statue of a pike
And I stand on my Broads map, staring at the dyke...

Apologies to the great Gordon Murray there, and if you're wondering what on earth I'm on about then ask a grown up to help you or click here.

So then, what's been occurring this week? Apparently there's a new water softener which I'm told will make showering on the campsite a more pleasurable experience and will prevent the build up of scales. Well frankly I'm not so sure that's a good thing, I would feel quite naked without mine.

Steve & Maxwell have evidently been busy in the boatshed tarting up the day cruisers ready for the season, and this afternoon I saw Richard slinging something over all that mud which might have been grass seed, but more realistically needs to be magic pixie dust if he wants it to go green any time soon.

In other news, Max has been over with another bit of paper from the pub and this time it's about a Start of Season Cocktail Party on Saturday 18th April. I'll mention it again a bit nearer the time but make sure you get it in your diary. I wonder how I'll look in a dickie bow? Quite dabber I should think.

The coming week's going to be a busy one with several exciting developments, so stay tuna'd!
