I'll row - if you'll marry me

Those are the magical words which swam around Emma's head as she relaxed on the River Waveney with her boyfriend Khalil.

Little did she know that she would set foot in our rowing dinghy with her boyfriend - and step back on to dry land with her fiancé.

The Norwich couple, who've been together for a year, had been considering visiting Paris to celebrate their anniversary - but the chance of a few days' camping at Waveney River Centre instead was too hard to resist. With Khalil's careful planning, Emma had no idea that he meant to pop the question whilst afloat!

Congratulations to the happy couple from all of us at WRC!

And a big thank you to my intrepid after-hours reporting team - Carol & Steve M.

Luxury Loo's Latrine Link

Flushed by the success of our new shower complex, we've twinned one our new luxury pans with a bog in Burundi.

Family cubicle number 10 now has an official twin in the shape of latrine number 1189, in Burundi's remote Giharo Province.

Toilet Twinning is a potty idea with a deadly serious message. Apparently, 2.6 billion people do not have access to a toilet - that’s 40% of the world population - and a child dies every 17 seconds from diarrheal diseases. And those figures don't include music festivals!

I interviewed Ruth Knight about the new African khazi and she said ‘We're delighted to twin our state of the art facilities with a latrine for a family in Burundi; it’s a real reminder of how fortunate we are here in the UK and how essential basic toilets are.’
